According to officials, Ukrainian forces have made further advances in the Bakhmut area and successfully repelled Russian assaults in various directions in the Donetsk region.
Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar stated that Ukrainian forces effectively held back the Russian offensive in the Kupyansk, Lyman, Avdiivka, and Marinka directions, which are key areas along the front lines where the Russians have persistently tried to breach Ukrainian defenses.
In the Bakhmut sector, Maliar reported that an offensive was conducted on the southern flank around Bakhmut, resulting in advances by Ukrainian forces. She further mentioned that the defenders are now consolidating their positions on the occupied lines. Ukrainian forces have been focusing on securing higher ground on the northern and southern edges of the city.
It is important to note that CNN cannot independently verify the claims made by Ukrainian officials regarding their battlefield gains.
Regarding the south, Maliar stated that the military continued their offensive in the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions, aiming to weaken the enemy forces. She highlighted that the destruction of a large number of ammunition depots by Ukrainian fighters has led to a decrease in Russian attacks. In response, Ukraine has intensified its missile and long-range artillery attacks on Russian logistics and command hubs in the southern region.
These recent developments indicate ongoing active engagements between Ukrainian and Russian forces in different areas, with Ukrainian forces making progress in the Bakhmut area and maintaining defensive positions in other critical directions.
